Meet Ezekiel 'Easy'

Ezekiel emerges as a stoic, world-weary drifter—hardened by hardship yet cloaked in quiet dignity. He sports a distinctive white cowboy hat and a striking facial scar, giving him an aura of cryptic backstory. Ezekiel sits in Aggie’s Bar when you first meet him—situated in the rougher area of Akila City known as The Stretch. He’s not pushy, but there's something magnetic about his demeanor: a blend of ruggedness and reflective silence that hints at hidden stories.

Ezekiel has a tragic story. His parents died in a ship accident when he was just a baby. His sister Emmeline took care of him in their home in The Stretch. Tragedy struck again exactly twelve years later to the day (of when his parents died). Like his parents, Emmeline also died in a ship accident. She was saving her brother from a fire. The accident is how Ezekiel got his scar. The death of his sister really impacted him. He lost the only family he had left. He also lost the desire to go into space. Ezekiel was on his own and the neighbors helped to make sure he had all he needed to survive.

You meet Ezekiel exactly twelve years to the day since his sister perished in the accident. Major events keep happening to Ezekiel every twelve years and he sees joining your crew as a sign. He has a background as being raised Universal, which shapes his moral character and beliefs.

Meet Matthew Mercer, voice actor for Ezekiel.

Matthew Mercer is a Los Angeles-based actor best known for his roles in animation and video games, as well as the massively popular hit show and media brand, Critical Role.

Critical Role has become one of the most popular storytelling and world building independent media companies in the world, and Matthew plays a pivotal role within the company as Chief Creative Officer, primary cast member, and executive producer of The Legend of Vox Machina animated series which airs exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. As CCO, Matthew helped shape the overall creative vision of the company, helping it become the powerhouse organization it is today.

In addition to Critical Role, Matthew’s extensive training in theater, improv, and being a life-long hardcore gamer helped prepare him for mainstream pop culture projects.
