Meet Sergeant Yumi

Sergeant Yumi is a United Colonies Security officer encountered in Starfield, stationed in the Mast District of New Atlantis. He is responsible for handling internal UC Security matters and can be approached by the player to assist with investigations involving theft and misconduct among UC personnel. Yumi presents himself as polite, reserved, and strictly professional, often expressing discomfort with corruption within his own ranks while remaining committed to proper legal procedure.

Throughout his interactions, he emphasizes evidence, accountability, and adherence to UC law, relying on the player’s help to resolve cases he cannot pursue alone due to jurisdictional or political constraints. His role highlights the presence of internal oversight within UC Security and provides insight into the bureaucratic and ethical challenges faced by law enforcement in the United Colonies.

Meet Tohoru Masamune

Tohoru Masamune is an American actor and voice actor born in Madison, Wisconsin and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, and Boston. His parents emigrated from Japan where they descended from an old samurai-class family.

He enjoys playing ice hockey, fighting with samurai swords, shooting Glocks, and jamming on his keyboard and guitar.

He is an MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) grad. His father was a top research professor at MIT, and his grandfather too was a world-renowned scientist (in Japan). He is currently developing a Hockey movie as well as a stage play, THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR written by one of his ancestors, Hakucho Masamune, who was a noted Japanese playwright in the 20’s.

Masamune’s onscreen credits include playing Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) and appearing in Inception (2010), while on television he’s known for his recurring role as Kevin Hall-Yoshida in Never Have I Ever and starring as Dr. Matt Lin in the Emmy- and Peabody-winning series Artificial.

In animation he has voiced characters in American Dad! and Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness. In video games, Masamune’s credits range from early voice roles in Twisted: The Game Show (1994) and EA Sports MMA (2010) to motion capture and voice work in Ghost of Tsushima (2020), and most recently he voiced Sergeant Yumi in Starfield (2023).

Masamune has built a versatile career spanning film, television, stage, animation, and video games, often bringing depth and physicality to his roles.
