Character Spotlight #45-VASCO
In this Character Spotlight, learn about Vasco and Jake Green, the voice actor behind Vasco (also Yannick Legrande and Vogal Fuches)
**
Meet Vasco
Vasco is a utility robot and one of the earliest companions encountered, serving as a loyal member of the Constellation expedition group. Originally designed as a rugged industrial machine for heavy-duty tasks, Vasco has been repurposed by Constellation to assist with exploration across the Settled Systems. Despite his mechanical nature, he displays a surprisingly personable demeanor, addressing the player by name and offering dry, literal observations that often come across as unintentionally humorous.
Functionally, Vasco excels in combat support and cargo assistance, capable of carrying additional gear and providing steady firepower in the field. His durable frame allows him to withstand harsh planetary environments, making him a reliable presence during early missions. As both a machine and companion, Vasco embodies the practical, frontier spirit of exploration. He's efficient, dependable, and quietly endearing in his straightforward approach to human interaction.
Meet Jake Green
Jake Green is an American actor and voice actor whose career spans television, film, animation, anime, commercials, and some of the video game industry's biggest franchises.
Born and raised in San Jose, California, Green originally pursued a career in hockey, playing junior hockey in Canada before injuries led him to shift his focus to acting. He went on to study at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in England and later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Boston University's School of Theatre. His classical training, combined with years of stage and on-camera work, gave him the versatility that has become one of his trademarks as a performer.
Green has appeared in numerous live-action television productions, including recurring or guest roles in Grey's Anatomy, The Catch, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, For the People, 9-1-1, and Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. Alongside his screen work, he has established himself as one of the industry's most prolific voice actors, lending his voice to animated series such as Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, The Boss Baby: Back in Business, Animaniacs, Family Guy, Transformers: EarthSpark, LEGO Star Wars, My Adventures with Superman, and Disney's StuGo. His performances have earned praise for their range, allowing him to portray everything from comedic side characters to intimidating villains and heroic leads.
Video game fans may know Green best for his extensive work in AAA titles. In Starfield, he voices the loyal robot companion Vasco, the eccentric Neon shopkeeper Yannick Legrande, and Vogal Fuches of the Ebbside Strikers, showcasing his ability to create distinctly different personalities within the same game. His other game credits include Marvel's Spider-Man, Marvel's Midnight Suns, Persona 3 Reload, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Fallout 76, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Mortal Kombat 1, where his portrayal of Homelander received widespread acclaim for closely matching Antony Starr's iconic performance.
Outside of games, Green is also a highly sought-after commercial narrator and promotional voice, having recorded numerous national advertising campaigns and television network promos. Colleagues and casting directors often cite his exceptional vocal range and ability to move seamlessly between natural American, British, and character voices.
Although many fans associate him with Vasco because of the companion's popularity, his body of work demonstrates remarkable versatility, with many players never realizing that the same actor voices several entirely different personalities throughout Starfield.
Today, Jake Green continues to balance live-action acting with an ever-expanding portfolio of voice performances, making him one of the most recognizable and versatile voice talents working in games and animation.
