Best Mods for a Pirate Character

### Ye be Warned This is not intended for those new to Starfield. Mods like these, many designed for more experienced players wanting to forego the main quest line (or at least delay it), will make life more difficult without giving you context for where you're at in the universe. ### Premise So you want to be a space pirate? Great! This collection of mods will help get you started off right. If you use these, you'll start the game as a pirate in your very own pirate ship (a humble Crimson Fleet Ghost), and you'll be docked to The Key - the HQ for the Crimson Fleet - all thanks to the *Crimson Start New Game* mod by SKKmods. In fact, you'll be starting 2-3 quests into the Crimson Fleet quest line having already joined the faction, and you'll be asked where your loyalties like (spy or not for Sysdef). ### Follower Options In vanilla Starfield, there are not nearly enough companion options that tolerate piracy. Of course, you can broaden that pool with mods like *No Angry Companions* by AlmightySE which ends most of the judgement by Constellation. Here are others to consider that have a more natural fit with your pirate: 1. **Jessamine Griffin** - Smuggler found in The Last Nova (bar) on The Key. One of my personal favorites in the game. 2. **Betty Howser** - You'll find her adrift on her ship orbiting Heinlein I. Bring a ship parts pack and she'll join your crew. Another great option! 3. **Mathis Castillo** - You'll be forced to spend more time with him if you continue the Crimson Fleet quest line, and the choices there will decide whether he's a companion option or an enemy. 4. **Sophia Grace** - Gang member on Neon found in Madame Sauvage's Place. ### Other Tips 1. The Kryx System puts you surrounded by more mid-level star systems. Be careful where you pick your starting battles. 2. You'll be aligned with Crimson Fleet from the start, so even with *Crimson Fleet - Less Fleet More Heat* mod from cyberpsyche you'll find most POIs, when exploring, are occupied by friendly Crimson Fleet. The *NPC Spawner Dangerzone* mod by naerv will help liven things up anytime you want and provide an ample supply of gear to loot and sell. :) 3. Piracy requires a lot of enhancements to your ship. Cargo space to fit all your loot will be at a premium for awhile unless you mod around that.

kine's Spacesuit Skin Packs

Adds color customization for Spacesuits, Boostpacks, and Helmets as well as some additional skins for certain sets. These are designed to be lightweight and performance friendly; all are light-mastered ESMs and mostly under 100mb each. This is also available in PC via [Nexus](https://https://www.nexusmods.com/games/starfield/collections/rlkbio).

Paid mods for lore-friendly questing

As the title states, a collection of paid mods for quests that doesn't break the worldbuilding of Starfield. Enjoyable quests to try or already hav tried.

Nova Rime

8.75/10 by Dyeritso

Beautiful, fancy habs, and fantastic, large selection of decor for any ship, outpost, or house. It adds that level of sophisticated yet cozy to any home. I will say, some furnitures are rather picky to place, though.

The Headhunter

7/10 by Ghastly Knight

I loved the storytelling aspects of this mod. The crash site being pillaged by multiple Spacer ships was very fun to encounter on a harder difficulty. I really appreciated that we could steal at least 2 of the Spacer ships - they were not just set dressing with the "[inaccessible]" tag on the pilot seats. I'm not that big a fan of the suits added with this. I actually prefer his Nomad suit to the ones we get here. The weapons are not bad. I'm not big on melee builds, but the flamethrower was the best I've seen in mods on Starfield. My play style does not favor it, so I doubt I'll be using it much. The space station is nicely done. I really hope zone79 adds some radiant quests. In fact, I wish the Spacers pillaging the down ship was a recurring POI we could run across on other worlds. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. Thanks zone79!

VIGILANCE

10/10 by TreeWanderer

This is what paid mods should be. If all paid mods were as good as Vigilance, I don't think that there would be as many complaints about them. The mod is incredible. I don't care much for the weapons and whatnot that were added with the mod, I see those as a bonus. The real meat here is the sprawling series of quests that take place in the underground facility. Just an incredible experience all around

Weapon Test Lab Missing Crate

8/10 by Ghastly Knight

This is a fun mod if you just want some crazy weapon options. Many are quite overpowered, so you'll want to use sparingly if game balance is a concern for you. Otherwise, have fun with them and go wild.

Cheap As Chips Ships

8.5/10 by Ghastly Knight

I really all the cheap alternatives this mod introduces to help you swap to something else pretty early in a new playthrough.

Ecliptic Mercenary (Replacer)

6.5/10 by Ghastly Knight

I like quite a bit of zone79's suit and clothing mods, but this one never worked for me. I don't care for Ecliptic armor, so this is a slight improvement on their regular suits. It just wasn't enough to stay in my load order.

Crater 87

4.5/10 by TreeWanderer

Dialogue was incredibly difficult to understand, even when it wasn't bugging out. There is a well documented part of the quest that is very frustrating (you'll know if you play). If everyone gets stuck on one part of a quest, that is just bad design at that point. Severely disappointing, especially at this price point.

Neon Ramen

4.5/10 by TreeWanderer

It's a cute location, but far from worth $4 when it doesn't really do anything.
