Meet Captain Petrov

Captain Petrov is one of the more memorable and eccentric figures in Starfield. He is the wealthy owner and captain of The Scow, an enormous private vessel that serves as both his home and a floating museum of rare artifacts, curiosities, and exotic creatures collected from across the Settled Systems.

Unlike collectors driven by profit, Petrov is motivated by obsession and fascination, taking immense pride in acquiring unique historical objects simply because they are rare. His flamboyant personality, theatrical mannerisms, and extravagant lifestyle contrast sharply with the dangerous company he keeps, as his ship is protected by a loyal crew of heavily armed mercenaries.

During the Constellation main quest "No Sudden Moves," the Spacefarer discovers that Petrov possesses one of the mysterious Artifacts sought by Constellation. Although initially hospitable and eager to show off his prized collection, he refuses to part with the Artifact, forcing the player into a difficult decision involving persuasion, stealth, or violence to obtain it.

Petrov is not portrayed as inherently cruel or malicious; rather, he is an eccentric, self-indulgent collector whose overwhelming greed for rare treasures blinds him to the Artifact's true importance. His character serves as an example of how humanity's fascination with discovery can become possessive rather than purposeful, standing in contrast to Constellation's mission of exploration for the benefit of knowledge rather than personal ownership.

Meet Stephen Russell

Stephen Russell is an American actor, voice actor, playwright, theatre director, producer, singer-songwriter, and storyteller whose career has spanned more than four decades. Widely regarded as one of the most accomplished performers in video game history, Russell has earned praise for his extraordinary vocal range and ability to portray everything from heroic protagonists and eccentric comic relief to chilling villains.

A member of both Actors' Equity Association (AEA) and SAG-AFTRA, he has appeared in more than 200 stage productions and served for many years as the Artistic Director of WHAT for Kids, the family theatre division of the Wellfleet Harbor Actors' Theatre (WHAT) in Massachusetts. In addition to acting, he has written numerous plays for young audiences, directed theatre productions, and holds a Master of Library Science, reflecting his lifelong passion for literacy and storytelling.

Russell is best known for his remarkable body of work in the video game industry. His voice has become so closely associated with Bethesda Game Studios that many fans affectionately refer to him as one of the studio's signature performers.

Although Russell's career has centered on voice acting and theatre, he has also appeared on screen in film and television. His film credits include Noëlle (2007), in which he portrayed Bob; Chatham (2008), where he played Luther Norris; and the romantic comedy Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009), starring Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner, in which he had a supporting role. On television, he voiced The Moth Napper in an episode of the animated series Fogtown (2024). While his screen appearances have been relatively limited compared with his voice work, they demonstrate the versatility that has defined his career across stage, screen, and interactive entertainment.
