Meet Supervisor Lin

Lin is the tough, no-nonsense supervisor of the Argos Extractors mining operation on Vectera, the moon where the Spacefarer's story begins in Starfield. She oversees the “dusties” working the site and is responsible for the dig that leads to the discovery of the first Artifact, though the operation is presented to most workers as a standard mining contract.

Lin has a military past, having served with the United Colonies during the Colony War, and that experience shows in her practical leadership style, her dry authority, and her ability to keep order under pressure. Beneath the stern exterior, however, she is deeply protective of her people, especially Heller, whom she treats almost like a trusted right hand. Her past is marked by loss: her husband Manuel died during the war, and Lin carries that grief without letting it make her cruel or bitter toward everyone around her.

After the Crimson Fleet attacks the Vectera outpost and the operation falls apart, Lin can later be recruited as a crew member, bringing her experience in outpost management and demolition work to the Spacefarer's ship or settlements. She is a grounded, capable character who represents the ordinary working people of the Settled Systems: weary, competent, scarred by history, but still willing to stand her ground when things go sideways.

Meet Sumalee Montano

Sumalee Montano is an American actress, voice actor, producer, and filmmaker whose career has moved from live-action television and film into a very substantial voice-over résumé across animation and major video games.

Born and raised in Ohio, she is Filipina-Thai-Chinese, graduated from Harvard University, and was also a U.S. Fulbright Scholar. Before acting, she worked in investment banking, then shifted into performance and production. On screen, she has appeared in projects such as ER, This Is Us, Veep, Star Trek: Picard, S.W.A.T., Scandal, Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol, and Snowpiercer.

In gaming, she is especially recognizable as Lin in Starfield, Yuna in Ghost of Tsushima, Dr. Elizabeth Cross in Dead Space (2023), Aruni in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Nyreen Kandros in Mass Effect 3: Omega, the Female Inquisitor in Dragon Age: Inquisition, Zora Blackwood in The Outer Worlds, Mari Kosan in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Shae Vizla in Star Wars: The Old Republic, Eirena the Enchantress in Diablo III, Marjory Delaqua in Guild Wars 2, Cali in the Skylanders series, Mystique in X-Men: Destiny and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, The President in Saints Row IV, and Pudding in Space Channel 5.

Beyond performance, Montano is a founding partner of LinLay Productions and has produced or executive produced films including Nanny, Riotsville, U.S.A., and The Deal, reflecting her broader commitment to stories that center underrepresented talent both in front of and behind the camera.
