Outpost Botanics & Utilities
By Star_Pegasus
Community Rating
About A custom build menu tab organizes structures, decor, and utilities for outposts together in one section, arranged by category. Workshop recipes are designed for frictionless building, with no perk or skill requirements. Certain items are available in ships as well.
Botanics › Greenhouse Habs (Decorated & Empty varieties in a range of sizes with safe interiors) › Greenhouse Accessories › Raised Garden Beds (static) with matching Harvest Baskets (respawning containers for fruits & vegetables) › Landscaping shrubs & trees with sci-tech details › Bulldozer tool for clearing terrain trees & rocks › A wide variety of plant decorations, from tabletop vases to large planters › A Ship Lab set specifically designed to bring the decorated botanical/greenhouse hab style into the compact environment of ships
Utilities › Interior & exterior details for walls, ceilings, and roofs › Resource storage (vanilla-aligned capacities) › Solar panels (fixed production values) › Platforms that allow direct access from landing pads to habs › Landing pads & cargo links with custom placement to allow low/partially-submerged placement on terrain › Utility structures & clutter › Redesigned workbenches & crew stations › Immersive containers & displays › Crew activity sets for outposts & interior spaces › Miscellaneous furniture & decor
Known Quirks › Welder bots feature a continuous animation loop with flashing lights, sparks, and machinery noise. › Projected decals have been included with some objects. These may not persist or display correctly on multiple instances in the same outpost. › Free Snacks Vending Machine is initially empty when built. Leaving & returning will reload the outpost cell and fill the container. › Decorated Greenhouse Hab furniture markers may be obstructed by uneven terrain. Rebuilding with a taller foundation or rotating may help resolve blocked interactive items. › Hydroponic System Table: Moving the table after placing it can leave behind an invisible collision at its original location. It’s best to delete and build a new one instead. › ‘Integrity’ Metric does not display on all Solar Panel power generators. Damage repair functions in outpost build mode. › Platforms: It’s best to delete and build new platforms instead of moving them once they’ve been snapped to other platforms. Moving an already-connected platform is an unsupported/unstable operation, as they lose snap connections and experience foundation misalignment on subsequent moves. › XBox/PlayStation Only ⠀⠀› Functional storage bin lids load into the initial preview incorrectly. Rotating the bins moves the lids to the correct alignment. ⠀⠀› Gear panel helmet arms load into the initial preview upside down. Rotating the panel moves them to their correct position.
Compatibility Notes › Ship Remote Control mod: ships may experience difficulty landing on custom landing pads via remote (in testing: off center & sunken into surface). Standard fast travel functions normally.

Additional Info This mod is a passion project to enhance my personal Starfield experience, and I hope it brings similar enjoyment to yours. My gratitude to Saskia for testing & feedback.
A Scavenger List of collectible items and Easter eggs is pinned on the overview video. Though the scope of this mod has expanded significantly since its initial release, the overview for the original version is on my youtube channel.
An optional workshop recipe patch is available, which overrides the default recipes in Outpost Botanics & Utilities. Instead of credits, objects are built using manufactured, inorganic, and organic resources; most items have additional requirements involving research project completion, skills, or both, in order to build them. 2.0v2.0 Update [Oct 2026]
__PLEASE NOTE THIS UPDATE IS INCOMPATIBLE WITH PLATFORMS AND WELDERBOTS BUILT IN PREVIOUS VERSIONS.__
Before updating to v2.0, remove all previously built platforms, welderbots on platforms, and legacy items from your outpost, __OR__ wait until starting a new save or NG+ to update.
*Interacting with affected objects after updating may cause the game to crash.* See the compatibility note below before updating an existing save.
__Fixes__
— Corrects the foundation error that occurred when moving platforms after their intial placement. Utility platforms and welderbots can now be moved after placement.
— Adds directional snaps that allow doors and airlocks to snap to platforms in all four cardinal directions.
— Corrects a placement error for the satellite dish.
— Corrects the description for the tea station in the build menu.
__Changes__
— Removes the Legacy Items list from the build menu.
— Replaces previous versions of platforms and welderbots in the build menu with the updated versions.
__Compatibility Note__
Due to limitations of the original snap system, correcting the platform foundation and placement issues required a new implementation that is incompatible with previously built platforms, welderbots, and legacy items. Existing affected objects must be removed before updating, or left untouched until a new save or NG+. -
1.3v1.3 Update [Aug 2026]
This update makes general improvements, expands platform availability to PS5, and adds new content, including several features requested by players.
*Nothing has been removed. __HOWEVER__, the build menu has been rearranged. Items that may no longer be necessary are now in a row at the very bottom of the tab.*
__Fixes__
⠀- Decorated greenhouse hab variants "Specialist" and "Enthusiast" no longer send outpost flycam into orbit
⠀- Helper platform can be placed on landing pads again
⠀- Tea packets in Enthusiast greenhouse no longer marked Steal
⠀- Small landing pad outpost count/registration corrected
⠀- Enthusiast Greenhouse Hab bulldozes landscape properly during placement
__Changes__
⠀- Rebuilt decorated greenhouse habs
⠀- Improved workshop placement for various objects
⠀- Harvest baskets available inside ships
⠀- Adjusted custom food item priority for compatibility with Chef's Special in cooking workstation
__Additions__
⠀- Low-Ground-Placement Cargo Link & Fueled Cargo Link (vanilla duplicates, custom build height)
⠀- Tabletop crafting station for Tranquilitea drinks
⠀- Furniture: green lounger chair
⠀- Decor:
⠀⠀⠀- Utility Platforms: small stairs and wide ramp snap to platform sides; airlock and door with attached ramps provide hab-to-platform access and snap to platforms; compatible with vanilla habs
⠀⠀⠀- Planters: tabletop “vases,” trough planters, Herb Tower
⠀⠀⠀- B&U Ship Lab Set: static decor for ships
__Known Quirks__
⠀- "Tea Time Anytime" workbench exits to 3rd person only and does not rotate between different camera perspectives during use. This is an intentional design compromise. Entering the workbench from side angles will provide different views of your character’s animation.
⠀- "Tea Time Anytime" includes a collectible mug that gains physics when the workbench is built. It may block the interaction prompt from certain angles or be knocked down when the player enters or exits the crafting station. -
