A New Coat of Paint This is the Mercury Tower penthouse, in a new mood that stays true to the original blank canvas. Redesigned with rich colors, practical features, and custom materials, the structural layout remains unchanged while lighting, fixtures, and wall decor have been updated. Added conveniences include an invisible cooking workbench on the kitchen counter, a fridge with integrated storage, and a small collection of new items in the decorator menu. Note: Access requirements have not been changed. This home is available after completing the Vanguard questline, which can be started by talking to Cmdr Tuala in the MAST building.

Complimentary Furnishings A small collection of seating, displays, and decor made for this home is available in the decorating menu Furniture tab, (sorted for compatibility, at or near the bottom of the list). There are no research, perk, or quest completion requirements to access these items.

Design Notes & Known Quirks ⠀+ “Snack Time”: The cooking workbench uses an invisible access point to keep the kitchen lines sleek. To open the crafting station, point your cursor directly at the counter surface opposite the stove. ⠀+ Dresser Display Slots: These displays are designed for small miscellaneous items and use a generic sorting filter. Taller items may clip. Note on Books: While books can be placed in these dressers, the display slot rotation is configured for misc/junk items and books will face backward. ⠀+ Small Bedroom Dead Zone Corner: The walls enclosing the corner of the small bedroom have been removed, but because I was unwilling to touch navmesh in the New Atlantis cell, that corner does not have updated navmesh and furniture placed in it may be inaccessible or have obstruction errors.

Compatibility & Installation

  • Precautions: Always make a manual/hard save before installing mods. Please make sure your character is not in New Atlantis when installing this mod. Safe to install on existing character/mid-playthrough—wait on Venus for a 24h cycle after installing to refresh game world data.
  • Empty/Undecorated Space Recommended: Best to install before adding any decorations to the penthouse. This mod has only been tested without any pre-existing player-added decorations.
  • Conflicts: Significant changes to the penthouse means this mod is not compatible with any other mods that edit the same penthouse cells. No other cells in New Atlantis were edited.
  • Suggested Load Order: Below official BGS content, at/near the top of the list or grouped with other mods that edit New Atlantis.
  • If Disabling or Deleting: To protect your save file, it is best to ONLY remove mods when you are about to initiate NG+ or start a new save. If you must remove the mod mid-save (NOT RECOMMENDED) make sure your character is not in the penthouse cell or New Atlantis world cell. Loading a save from before you initially installed the mod is best.

Special thanks to Saskia for testing and feedback.

The cat artwork featured in this mod is a digital conversion of an original drawing I made.
