Real O2 is a lightweight, minimalist revamp of O2 characteristics in Starfield. Oxygen is now a limited resource in zero-atmosphere environments, and must be managed carefully.

Systems
The mod revolves around two basic systems: A Reserve and a Drain.
Reserves
Your pack holds a set amount of O2. This can be increased by taking perks or installing armor mods. You cannot Fast Travel while drawing on your suit's Reserves. If the mod is set to Streamlined mode, fast travel will still be available.
Drain
Your activities influence how much O2 you are using at any given time. Running or Sprinting uses more O2 than walking. In Simulation mode, Boost Jumping and taking Gunfire damage will also reduce O2.
Fitness
Aerobics is derived from vanilla skills like Fitness, Gymnastics, Weightlifting, and more. This meta-skill influences O2 drain and CO2 buildup in various scenarios.
Asphyxiation
When you are drawing on Reserves, CO2 builds up over time. The rate of buildup increases as O2 reserve percentages decrease. If O2 reaches dangerously low levels, Health will begin to drain until death. This can be avoided by casting Personal Atmosphere, using an Emergency Reserve, or entering an area with breathable air.
Boosting Uses O2
By default, using your Boost Pack in zero-atmosphere environments will now drain O2 instead of using Boost Fuel. The amount of O2 used is affected by the Type (Skip, Power, etc) of Boost Pack and your rank of Boost Pack skill.
New Items
Consumables
Heliox will greatly reduce resting O2 usage (while standing, sitting, or walking.) Emergency Reserves will restore a large amount of O2. Purge Valves allow all stored CO2 to be drained safely. This is re-usable.
Currently, all of these can be crafted at Industrial or Pharmaceutical workbenches.
Armor Mods
Experimental Scrubbers - for Packs - will allow slight O2 regeneration when sitting, standing, or walking. Hypercure Sealant - for Suits - simply reduces the amount of O2 lost when a Puncture is caused by incoming gunfire. Note: Some vanilla armors like Starborn or UC Marine armors include the above features by default.
Compatibility
Real O2 does not touch any vanilla records that affect gameplay. It is generally compatible with everything except for other O2 mechanics overhauls.
Configuration
[SIMULATION] Mode considers all modifiers and effects, and care must be taken when entering zero-atmosphere environments. [STREAMLINED] disables a few difficulty systems like Fast Travel Restrictions, and relaxes the scaling. [DISABLED] simply disables the mod.
The Boosting Uses O2 setting is simply on or off. When disabled, Boost Pack behavior will be like vanilla.
