PLEASE NOTE: This Creation is generally incompatible with my own Real O2 as well as TN's Realistic Oxygen Meter due to core mechanic overlap (Namely, depletion of the O2 meter in non-breathable environments). The above are Free Creations, available for Xbox & PC. Please keep this in mind when choosing which Creation you wish to install. Thank you for your support.

Excursion is Achievement Friendly.

Oxygen Depletion Anytime you are in an environment without breathable air, it is considered as the Excursion state. In this state, your O2 capacity is moderately increased - but your O2 will slowly deplete until empty. If it reaches empty, you will Asphyxiate and begin to take health damage. Consuming an Emergency O2 item will replenish some O2. Entering breathable atmosphere will restore all O2 and exit the Excursion state.

The Excursion State Some additional systems are altered while drawing on Reserves. Please note that all of the below features are disabled in any breathable atmosphere.

  • Your O2 will slowly deplete until empty.
  • You can no longer fast travel - you will now have to reach a breathable environment with your current O2 and resources.
  • Your Boost Pack will draw on your O2 Reserves instead of infinitely regenerating fuel.
  • Holding your breath to aim will slowly dim your vision, but will not drain O2.
  • If you remove or replace your Pack, you will lose a portion of O2. Make sure to choose the right gear beforehand!

Punctures You will have to be careful of enemies with melee or ballistic weapons, as they can now Puncture your suit - instantly draining a huge portion of your O2 Reserves.

Encumbrance This is an optional system for enhanced immersion, controlled by the corresponding Gameplay Option.

  • In Streamlined mode (The default configuration), it will adjust your movement speed very slightly according to what kind of Suit you are wearing and your environment.
  • For example, suits designed for Space travel are a little cumbersome on land, but a little easier to move in in Space.
  • In Simulation mode, you will only be able to carry two Spacesuits, Packs, or Helmets at a time comfortably, enhancing the need to carefully prepare for excursions.
  • Exceeding this limit will prevent you from moving at a running pace, similar to Encumbrance systems from older titles.

Boost Pack Handling This feature is disabled by default and is available under Gameplay Options.

If the Boost Packs option is set to Immersive, you will only be able to Boost Jump when your suit is visible in some fashion. Your Boost Pack will no longer automatically appear if your suit is hidden, and you will have to rely on other ways to navigate vertically. You can change your Suit Visibility options via the Inventory menu (this is a vanilla feature) if you wish to adjust when you can perform Boost Jumps.

Tutorials and Feedback Each major feature has a corresponding tutorial - but all tutorials can be opted out of when the mod initializes. The in-game Help Menu has a new Excursion entry with a comprehensive overview of new systems.

New Items and Modifications There are three items that can Restore O2. All three feature new custom models and are integrated seamlessly into the vanilla game.

  • Emergency O2: just a small, relatively light bottle of Air. These are very common items and can be crafted easily or found in most shops or as common loot.
  • Oxygen Canister: This is a larger, heavier tank of O2 that can be refilled after use. It requires a rank of Weightlifting to craft but can be purchased or looted.
  • EVA System: This is a smart system that will refill itself from available atmosphere. It also purges CO2 when consumed, unlike other tanks. Note: The EVA system is a Special Project and requires Rank 2 of the associated Perk to craft. It cannot be found in the world.

There are other consumables for different purposes.

  • Purge Valve: This will let you safely drain CO2 from your suit's systems to make room for Oxygen. The Purge Valve is reusable and can be crafted or, rarely, found as loot.
  • Heliox: This will drastically slow your metabolism, lowering your Base O2 Drain rate. Heliox can be crafted at a Pharmaceutical Lab once Medical research 1 is performed, purchased from Doctors, or looted.

Additionally, there are three new Armor Modifications which can be applied to your equipment at a Spacesuit Workbench. For all mods to become available, you must complete Research up to Pack Mods 3 and Suit Mods 1.

  • The Fuel Condenser Pack Mod lets you use and regenerate Boost Fuel in zero-atmosphere conditions, removing its dependency on your O2 Reserves.
  • The Experimental Scrubbers Pack Mod lets you slowly regenerate O2 in zero-atmosphere conditions. It also enables Fast Travel, as you would expect.
  • The Hypercure Sealant Suit Mod will greatly reduce the O2 drain of Puncture events.

Gameplay Options

[EXCURSION] determines if the system is On, Off, or On with Fast Travel Enabled. [EXCURSION - ENCUMBRANCE] determines if Spacesuits will affect Movement Speed or, in Simulation mode, limit how many Spacesuits can be carried. [EXCURSION - BOOST PACKS] determines whether Boost Pack availability is logically tied to Suit Visibility.
