Roy's Garage: The Expedition General (WIP)
By MightyBoltar
Community Rating
Take the scenic route in an armored, rust-orange muscle pickup built on the Deimog vehicle rig. Working doors, switchable headlights, a Dixie horn, and a roof cannon bring a little Old Earth attitude to your next expedition.
WORK IN PROGRESS
Tested and drivable, with further improvements underway. Expect updates.
Requires the Deimog Creation.
NEW IN v1.0.2
- Headlights now work like the REV-8's: hold the Scanner button while driving to switch them on or off.
- Enter with your helmet light active and the truck's lights come on with it.
- Lights switch off when you leave the vehicle.
- Photo Mode now offers the four vehicle poses while you're seated in the driver's seat.
- Includes the parked-stability and lighting-script cleanup prepared for v1.0.1.
AI ASSISTED, HUMAN DRIVEN
Yes, this Creation was made with AI.
The truck's concept art, body, and paint were generated with AI from my own ideas. The dashboard Vasco bobblehead was also AI-generated. AI tools wrote the scripts and did much of the work on the cab interior, lamps, bed, windows, collision, and getting the vehicle ready for the game.
I designed the truck, directed every change, and tested it in game. The cab interior was textured in Adobe Substance 3D Painter, and the body was fitted to the Deimog vehicle rig in Blender.
If AI-assisted Creations aren't your thing, no hard feelings.
THE TRUCK
- Rust-orange paint over dark armor plate.
- Eagle on the hood and hawk plates on the doors.
- Hood blower with glowing intakes.
- Roll cage and bronze beadlock wheels.
- Two cab seats for you and one companion. When Vasco accompanies you, he rides in the bed.
- Working doors.
- Classic Dixie horn.
- Roof cannon that follows your aim and fires the Deimog's rockets.
- Diamond-plate bed with a rubber mat and spare tire in a lined well.
- Carbon fiber and leather cab with racing seats.
- Vasco dashboard bobblehead.
- Car stereo and piston shift knob.
- Tinted windshield and rear window.
- Custom HUD vehicle icon.
AT THE WHEEL
HEADLIGHTS Hold the Scanner button while driving to switch the headlights on or off, using the same game control as the REV-8.
If your helmet light is active when you enter, the General's lights come on with it. They switch off when you step out.
PHOTO MODE While seated in the driver's seat, Photo Mode now offers the four vehicle poses: Thumbs Up, Back Seat Driver, Hang Ten, and No Hands.
These are the REV-8's poses, so some do not line up perfectly inside the General's enclosed cab.
HEAVY The General has 2.5 times the Deimog's mass, with engine power, braking, and jump thrust scaled to match.
Grip, suspension, and steering have their own tuning.
Forward boost pushes twice as hard for the truck's weight and lasts twice as long.
PARKED Parked stability is tuned to resist movement from passing NPCs and nearby explosions. The hold releases as soon as you get back in.
LOOK AROUND The General also enables a wider first-person driving view, allowing you to look farther to the sides, up, and down.
This camera setting applies to every vehicle while the Creation is active.
GETTING IT IN GAME
Visit a Ship Services technician who sells vehicles, including the vendors that offer the Deimog.
In the Ship Builder, select The Expedition General from the available vehicles, add it to your ship, then land and deploy it normally.
REQUIREMENTS AND COMPATIBILITY
Requires:
- Starfield
- The Deimog Creation
No script extender required.
Small master plugin.
The Expedition General adds its own vehicle rather than replacing the Deimog.
The one existing Starfield record it overrides is the Photo Mode vehicle-pose list so the vehicle poses are available while seated in this truck.
The wider first-person driving view uses global vehicle-camera settings, so it affects every vehicle while this Creation is enabled.
KNOWN LIMITATIONS
- The roof cannon fires the Deimog's rockets.
- Brake lights are not currently implemented.
- The vehicle Photo Mode poses were created for the REV-8's open seat, so some do not line up perfectly inside this cab.
- Vehicle placement beside your ship is controlled by the game.
After installing or updating, fully close and restart Starfield so the custom Dixie horn sound bank loads.
