Useful Generator Habs is a gameplay enhancement for Starfield that introduces new 1x1x1 generator ship habs for each major ship part vendor: Deimos, HopeTech, Nova Galactic, Stroud-Eklund, and Taiyo.

These hab units are offered as part of the Generdyne Corporation’s modular energy solutions line, extending the Neon-based utility provider’s power infrastructure expertise into innovative, modular shipboard power and emergency backup systems, available at all major hab vendors.

All vanilla variations are included, for a total of 21 new generator habs.

Power When You Need It

Each generator hab features 6 power receptacles. Each inserted Emergency Power Cell provides 1 additional unit of power to your ship.

Emergency Power Cells provide power/are only drained:

  • While piloting the ship.
  • When power has been routed to the generator using the included power switch inside the generator hab.

Each generator hab drains a single Emergency Power Cell when in use.

Power cell longevity is fully configurable through Game Options.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle?

Once depleted, Emergency Power Cells become Dead Emergency Power Cells that can be removed from the generator hab.

Dead Emergency Power Cells can be recharged at an outpost using the new Emergency Power Cell Charger, available under the Power category.

Charging speed is configurable through Game Options.

Balanced as all things should be...

Emergency Power Cells have been rebalanced to reflect their new utility:

  • Significantly increased value.
  • Increased weight, like any real battery.

Vendor Availability

It’s hard braving the frontier, whether planetside or in space. With increased demand for Emergency Power Cells, they can now be found at select vendors across the Settled Systems.

Stock levels vary by vendor and rarity, encouraging exploration and planning.

System Behavior & Limitations

Just some things to be aware of:

  1. Emergency Power Cells become permanently installed once inserted into a generator hab's power receptacle and may only be removed once the Emergency Power Cell is dead.
  2. Modifying ship interior layouts will remove (delete) installed Emergency Power Cells.
  3. Emergency Power Cell drain progress is tracked per ship, not per hab, which can cause Emergency Power Cells to drain quicker than expected for the first Emergency Power Cell if adding new habs with Emergency Power Cells.
  4. Emergency Power Cells only drain while the ship is being piloted.
  5. All drain and charging calculations use in-game time.

Compatibility & Extensibility

Useful Generator Habs is a largely self-contained Creation unlikely to conflict with other content. However, it is currently known to have an issue when used with TN's Out in the Blackness (A Space Survival Mod) which can result in wrong power buffs/debuffs for your ship.

Shopping List can help you purchase Emergency Power Cells or Dead Emergency Power Cells but is not required.
