Hello!
Welcome to Starfield Revised - Spacesuits, part of the 'Starfield Revised' Series. Which aims to bring balance to our gameplay across the settled systems.
What does this mod do?
This is a complete rework of spacesuits, helmets and packs within Starfield including Shattered Space, Terran Armada and Trackers Alliance. The goal being that you have a wide variety of suits to pick from based on your activity!
It does this by splitting suits into 3 categories. Light, Medium and Heavy. Revolutionary!
Light
Light suits weigh the least and provide you with an extra bonus. But have the least defence, around 40% less than heavy suits.
Medium
Medium suits have the middle ground in terms of weight and resistance, 15% less than heavy on average. They have no extra effects or penalties.
Heavy
Heavy suits weigh the most and have the most damage resistance, but this comes at a -5% movement penalty.
Backpacks and Helmets
Backpacks and helmets are in two categories: Standard and Tech; Tech has less defence than standard, but comes with added bonuses such as increased hover time, faster zero-g damage or increased O2 recovery, nice and simple!
How was the balancing worked out?
Literally by my eyeballs, I looked at each suit, and thought "Yeah that looks like it'd be heavy and that one looks pretty light".
Suits within each category will also weigh differently, and resistances have been adjusted for this. For example, if you have 2 medium suits, one weighs 12 and the other weighs 14. The one with 14 will have slightly higher defensive stats to compensate, it's a small amount, but enough to keep it from being "I may as well use the lighter suit of the two"
As for the different tiers, you'll find all suits in calibrated starting at level 15, Refined at 30 and Advanced at 45. This will ensure you have consistency and balance over the duration of your playthrough.
What else?
I've also added some usually hard to obtain armours to the appropriate vendors, such as UC marine, Sysdef Ranger ETC. These are usually next to impossible to get for a 'good guy' playthrough.
Armours from Shattered space and a few from Terran Armada are also added to vendors and the appropriate enemy (Va'ruun will now equip the suits from Shattered space).
TDLR Breakdown List
-
Every suit, helmet and backpack in the game is viable regardless of your level (provided you have the correct quality version for your level)
-
Suits come in 3 categories; light, medium and heavy, each with their down advantages (and disadvantages!)
-
Some cool new effects, such as boostpacks providing extra hover time or faster zero-g movement
-
Some normally hard to obtain armour such as Sysdef, UC marine variants and Pilot armour can now be found at the appropriate vendors (UC surplus and Trade authority)
-
DLC armour (Hyper Padded, Va'ruun Assault) added to base game enemies and vendors (Armada armour NOT added to vendors because I feel it breaks the lore)
-
Quality levels adjusted so you find all suits in higher quality levels at the same time. (15, 30, 45, 60)
-
- a few more things I likely forgot!
Current Patches
I've not made any patches for this mod so far, permissions will be open for anyone who wishes to make a patch for their favourite spacesuit mods, provided you give the appropriate credits where needed.
Something doesn't feel right...
I BEG you to check your load order and any potential conflicts before you say the mod is causing issues, 9/10 issues I've had have been load order related or user error, so please just check this, then check it again!
If you feel a something might be too weak/strong, please post your thoughts in the comments, I'm always open to feedback, please provide me with good info on why you think said Suit/Pack/Helmet might need changing.
I won't always just change something on the base of a single comment, as one person might not speak for many, but if something is brought up a few times I'll do my best to accommodate!
If something also doesn't add up to the spreadsheet, then also let me know! It's very easy to miss something when changing that many things!
If you find this mod has something which seems more of an error and it's NOT related to just something being weak/strong, please put it in the bug reports! It will be much easier for me to catch and rectify if you put it there rather than in the comments!
Enjoy! Fank
