Fix the stutter that happens when swapping weapons
The problem:
According to my tests, if an item has an enchantment that adds a perk when equipped, it will cause a small stutter when swapping to it or to another weapon when it is equipped. A lot of items with legendary effects such as "Heller's Cutter", some weapon mods such as "Stabilizing Barrel" and even default particle weapons work this way. The stutter happens even if the perk does nothing and it gets worse with the amount of items the player has in their inventory.
The solution I came up with:
I removed all these enchantments from object mod records, added a perk to the human race that checks for these object mods using keywords and activate the corresponding effect if a worn equipment has the keyword. Human race covers the player, NPCs, followers, basically every human in the game.
The results:
Frame time graph, a lot of items in the inventory, swapping exotic weapons with 4 different effects that all add perks, without the fix:
FPS difference is irrelevant and random, this mod does not increase performance. The little bumps happen with default weapons too.
Does it reduce performance?
I implemented this change in my other mod months ago and I never ran into problems with it related to this change in over 90 hours of gameplay/testing. Please let me know how it works for you.
With the latest update, bethesda added a perk to the human race for damage differences between receiver types and other object mods such as amplifier internal and armor piercing rounds. Before the update this perk was exclusive to the player, that is why the enemies were dealing more damage than the player with full auto weapons. If Bethesda thinks that it is okay to fix a problem like this, I think it should be okay. Granted, the perk added by bethesda has fewer than half the number of effects than the one I made for this mod, it should still be fine.
If it simply works, why didn't Bethesda do it this way?
No idea. Please let me know if you think or know that this method will cause even bigger problems than the awful stutter.
What about armor?
Armor pieces also have the same problem but since swapping armor pieces does not happen as frequently as swapping weapons, and usually in the inventory menu where it always stutters anyway, this mod does not change any records related to armor pieces.
Compatibility:
Any mod making changes to HumanRace record will conflict. Any mod making changes to legendary object mod and "_template" object mod records edited by this mod will conflict. Please use xEdit to check if there will be conflicts with any mods that you are using.
Installation:
Please install using a mod manager like mod organizer 2. Should be safe to install mid game, I wouldn't recommend uninstalling without a new save.
