PLAYSTATION UPDATE AND 1.16.236.0 (FREE LANES) COMPATIBILITY Copycat requires no changes for the new game update, PC and Xbox players can continue to use the current version 1.3 of the mod. And yes, you can duplicate X-Tech and upgrade modules.

The new PlayStation release has the same limitations as the Xbox version, so legendary effects will not be duplicated on weapons and armor and workbench mods and quality will be randomized according to normal loot spawning behaviour. This of course is less of an issue now as you can duplicate X-Tech and add legendary effects at the weapon workbench.

DESCRIPTION Have you wanted to give your follower(s) or crew the same gun, outfit or spacesuit you're using right now, but haven't yet found other ones? Or maybe you need to craft or research something, you've got the resources just not enough of them, and you really don't want to go searching all over the settled systems for more? That's why you need the Copycat®! Harness the power of nuclear energy (somewhat) safely, and make duplicates of almost anything you like. Simple to use, just flip the lever and out come your copies.

  • Perfect duplication not guaranteed. Do not operate if there are signs of nuclear leakage and seek medical advice immediately. Not authorized for use on live subjects. Children should be properly supervised.

OPTIONS AND CAVEATS There are two versions of the Copycat available, the regular freestanding version and a wall-mounted one if you're short on space. To build one at your outpost or on your ship you'll need one copper, two plutonium and a mag pressure tank; if you don't have one, the mag pressure tank itself can be made with two aluminium and one nickel at an industrial workbench. You should be able to buy all of that at Midtown Minerals in Akila City.

There are gameplay options for the percentage cost to duplicate an item (from 0 to 200%), number of copies to make, whether restricted items can be duplicated (currently just contraband), and the method used to duplicate items. This last one is important as on PC the mod can use a debug-only command to make exact copies of items, whereas if this option is changed to PC/Xbox (or PC/PS) then legendary effects and mods on weapons and suit parts will typically be lost on the duplicate, unless it is a unique item that always has those effects. The game will apply its own loot spawning logic for the duplicates with this setting, so they may also not be the same quality tier as the original and may have random workbench mods applied. With the PC Only setting everything is retained on the copy, even the stolen mark if you're duplicating a stolen item. Quest items cannot be duplicated with either setting.

In the images for this mod you can see an example of what happens when 8 refined Solstice's are duplicated with the PC/Xbox or PC/PS setting; the 8 refined ones are returned to the player as-is, and the duplicates range from calibrated to advanced in quality (which will depend on player level) with a variety of workbench mods applied.

Gameplay options are stored in your save, so you should make any changes after you have loaded into a game, not from the title screen.

If you're using the wall-mounted version, don't place it too low on the wall or the player might get stuck in the floor when exiting the animation.

If you have more than 2,147,483,647 credits, set the cost option to free to duplicate items.

ABOUT/CREDITS While I was making Usable Animation Markers I came across an unused animation for power cycling, and wanted to find something to use it on that was a bit more exciting than yet another vending machine. Then I saw someone asking for a simple duplicator mod; it didn't turn out to be quite so simple, but this is the final result. I initially wanted to make this as furniture that NPCs could sandbox with, but unfortunately that proved to be incompatible with the outpost/ship decorator. You'll also notice the lever doesn't move; I know, it didn't move on Bethesda's power cycle box anyway, but I doubt there's anything I can do about it now.

Made with NifSkope, xEdit and the Creation Kit. I can be reached at Nexus Mods.
