Deep Space

From the game's original artwork to the main menu, the same idea has always been there: a powerful, bright sun against the deep darkness of space, with a delicate blue-tinted light that enriches the image. Now you will see that same effect applied to outer space in-game.
Through changes in how the game renders light, bloom and outer space effects, combined with adjustments to its dynamic range, this mod makes outer space deeper, with different levels of darkness depending on where you look in relation to the sun. The dust clouds that appeared when accelerating are also gone, so you can appreciate space even while travelling at high speeds.
If you find this mod too dark or the contrast too intense, I highly recommend "Darker Space" by wizzackr. Deep Space is my own take on a deep black space that blends differently with the blue-tinted sunlight.
The ship HUD shown in the second screenshot is "CLEAR Ship HUD IV". You can find it on my profile.
I also recommend installing "Extended Ship Debris", a companion mod built alongside this one to complete the perfect space exploration experience on OLED displays. You can find it on my profile.
If you enjoyed this mod, stay tuned for the next one: a new visual overhaul also inspired by the game's original artwork.
Known issue: Lighting flicker near stars in Cruise Mode Due to a limitation in Starfield's engine, any frame rate above 60 FPS causes a lighting flicker when approaching stars in Cruise Mode. This is an engine-level bug affecting all visual space mods. Deep Space simply makes it more visible due to its higher contrast values. The number of flickers per second equals the frame rate's deviation from 60 (e.g. 72 FPS = 12 flickers/sec). Solution: lock the game to 60 FPS.
- PC (NVIDIA): Control Panel → Manage 3D Settings → Max Frame Rate → 60
- PC (AMD): Adrenalin → Frame Rate Target Control → 60
- Xbox Series X/S: In-game Settings → Display → Frame Rate Target → 60 (avoid Uncapped on VRR displays)
- PS5 / PS5 Pro: In-game Settings → Display → set Frame Rate to 60 (avoid Uncapped)
This cannot be fixed from any mod, only by an engine patch from Bethesda.
LOAD ORDER & COMPATIBILITY Compatible with all mods except those that alter outer space LUTs, space lighting, bloom or image space settings. If using another mod that modifies these, load Deep Space last.
Enjoy the mod!
