The Shared Outpost Container has been moved from the "Storage" category to the "Decorations" category. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE REQUIRED SKILLS THE SHARED CONTAINER IS SORTED TOWARDS THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST. Additional containers have been added. All containers have no capacity limit. Only one container can be built at a location.

Build cost: (2) Aluminum, (4) Structural and (1) X-Tech Required Skills: OUTPOST ENGINEERING, RANK 4 OUTPOST MANAGEMENT, RANK 4 (There is another version with no skill requirement)

The following containers are available:

  • Shared Ship Container: Looks just like the standard shared container.
  • Container Access Panel: Looks like a hatch that you can put on a wall or another decorative container.
  • Wall Safe: The same wall safe that you can build in an outpost.
  • Shared Military Crate: A cube shaped crate.
  • Shared Industrial Crate: A larger rectangular shaped crate.
  • Shared Science Crate: A common many-sided crate.
  • Shared Storage Sign: A sign you can mount on the crate or a wall.

Details:

  • Contraband will not be detected if placed inside a shared container located on your ship. Don't do this. It's cheating. :)
  • Ship "Workshop" HABs that have pre-made workbenches will not be able to access items in the shared container. This is a problem with the ship HAB workbenches, not the container. If you use an empty workshop HAB and place the workbenches yourself it WILL be able to access the shared container.
  • The shared container cannot be linked to extractors, etc. While it is possible, all resources that flow into the shared container disappeared forever. Poof!

I am not going to call this container "Infinite". There is definitely a limit somewhere. Probably the highest integer value, which is over 2 Trillion. So, as long as you store less than 2 trillion of a single item it should be fine.

Tests have shown that this unlimited container will not cause a save file to "bloat". It's the opposite actually. Resources moved out of a high number of containers into the shared container caused the save file to get smaller. I have tested it up to about 10 million total mass.

A high number of unique items stored in the container may slow down some UI elements. The quick inventory list you see when you point at the container cause a slight stutter when a high number of items are stored. I am using StarUI though so that's probably why.

If you are using the vanilla container or a previous mod like: "Easy Shared Outpost Container" or "Build Shared Container on Ship": You don't need to remove everything from the container before changing. Delete the container that is already placed. Install this mod. Build the new container. All of your items are still in the shared stash.
