Defying Fire: Welcome To Arinya (Defying Fire pre-release)
Community Rating
Welcome to Arinya, a Yalcin owned company town that's caught in the middle of a rising conflict in the Sirius system. This mod functions as a standalone pre-release (for our bigger "Defying Fire" project) in which you'll be able to get to know the two factions vying for control over the Sirius System in a 2 part questline. (+ 2 other side missions)
Arinya and this creation are standalone and finished in terms of content, but part of the bigger "Defying Fire" project that would come out later as a seperate compatible mod. (hence the pre-release label)
-- Features --
- The town of Arinya
- The smaller settlements of mineshaft B1, B2 and B3, each with their own small cast of custom NPCs
- Other smaller POIs around Arinya
- Over 30 custom voice acted NPCs, of which seven are vendors.
- A 2 part questline
- 2 side missions
- Other smaller interactions and things to do
- A news station that can be heard in Arinya, giving some more info on the lore of the Yalcin Corp, Arinya and Yalcin City, with 14 news reports and reactivity to the main questline of Arinya
- A new crew member with over 400 lines of custom voiced dialogue, which you'll be able to recruit depending on your choices in the main quest.
- A new player home, available for 15,000 credits at YC Realty
-- How to start the creation --
Head to Sirius II-a in the Sirius System (to the left of Alpha Centauri) and land in Arinya. Discover the town and you'll organicly bump into the quests and other content.
-- Note --
This is our very first release ever, we have much to learn and will take in any feedback that comes out of this release. If anyone wants to give feedback on this mod, you can always do so via this form: https://forms.gle/75b9ij7S6pvZbH9q9
We've tried our best to fix as much bugs as possible, however, due to the complexity of this release and its quests, it's always possible for bugs to occur. While this mod is compatible with big story creations like Watchtower, creations that alter vanilla mechanics - like followers - could provide some issues with characters. To make sure you'll be able to have a great experience we've compiled a list of things to do when you would be stuck on certain quests in the next section. We hope you won't need it, but it's here for if you do.
-- Tips/Troubleshooting (possible minor spoilers)--
General
It's totally fine to install this creation mid-playthrough It's advised to play this creation with a vehicle, but it's possible without one. The recommended level to start this creation on is around 30.
"Rocking The Boat" mission
Deciding to kill the spacers on your own will skip most scenes and characters in the main quest (due to not having to enlist any help) and will disable the option to get Horace as a crew member.
"Payback" mission
If Horace doesn't follow you at the start of the "Payback" quest, fast travel to any location, from that point on he'll follow you. (if horace is following you, there's no need to wait for him when going to the meeting place with the reinforcements, he'll spawn in this worldspace automatically when you've arrived)
Horace might have some trouble finding his way to his mother's hab after you've killed the spacers, don't worry he'll always get there eventually. If you don't feel like waiting you can always fast travel to The Red Stick (in Arinya) from that point on he'll have no trouble at all woth going to his mother.
Try to let horace confront the spacer, or progress the quest directly by killing the first spacer in the middle of the road. (killing other spacers first might cause issues)
"Greg's Grimey Game" mission
The dataslate you need to find to progress the quest is in Greg's hab, as mentioned. There are four other slates in the same room, those won't progress the quest as they don't reveal his scam, you'll need to find the one that reveals his scam, which lies in the same room.
"Numbers That Matter" mission
You'll need a key to open either the terminal in Malyna's hab or the terminal in the mining office. This key can be found in the same space the terminal is in.

Amazing work has gone into this truly unique location. It has great voice acting and personality to both its characters and the location itself. I love the history that has been crafted around the company-run mining "town" and how the locals have dealt with things. Highly recommend this one. The author has been posting about the planned expansions, with new cities on the same world, which I am excited to see.
