This mod wants to take you back in time, both real history and the lore of the game. STS-136 is the name of a fictional mission that used the long-abandoned knowledge of "lifting-bodies" to create and test a new class of ships equipped with a compact version of the brand new Grav Drive, designed for mass use and production. The mod is structured as a "modular-skin" to be applied to your ship, with the limitations imposed by the original design. Nevertheless, I used minimally invasive snap points, so as to make even a not too aggressive kitbashing practical, but as always the limit is your imagination and the result must be acceptable to you.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

The pilot's pit is customized and now, with 1.11 update, the lower deck (Storage) is a stand alone module. The nose of the shuttle is equipped with vectors for vertical take-off, a spectacle both at the start and at take-off. I also took the liberty of integrating a modified landing gear, not finding the assembly with the existing ones satisfactory. The RCS vectors of the nose are perfectly functional in maneuvers. There are 2 standard fixed weapon mount also on the right side of the nose.

The fictional engine mounts 3 hypothetical successors of the F1 engine present in the game but slightly modified, theoretically adapted to the new fuels and reinforced with new materials. It is a beast and it is a spectacle to see it in action, also flanking even just a couple of additional engines ... simply try it!

The tail has been prepared for the integration of an airbrake, but I am not satisfied with the result yet so I postpone the integration of the device for now, what matters is that its design brings back to the glories of an era of space exploration that has left its mark on human history. Also in this case the RCS are functional and visible in maneuvers. The wings are really intriguing, for convenience you will find them in the section dedicated to the landing gears, but they include a hybrid scramjet engine with vectors for vertical takeoff integrated into the exhaust nozzles, they have only one snap point, so without enabling options or using particular mods you can vary the appearance by attaching tanks, shields or side covers, you decide when it is too much.

BONUS CONTENT:

As with other mods, I reserve the right to integrate other features and other components or improve the mod itself, but I decided to bring forward one of these to the first release. I'm working on the creation of custom interiors not only from the point of view of the furniture but also from the point of view of the geometry of the rooms exactly as for the exterior models. The "Press Room" present in this mod is an added value, a first experiment that helped me understand the behavior of the doors/walls in the game. It should be compatible with most configurations, but keep in mind that the front ceiling/floor plugs are specifically designed not to be accessible/open, as they are in the position that a hypothetical speaker would occupy. What is it for? I love having the ship full of people and seeing a lot of passengers or crew members sitting there, amuses me a lot, the passenger transport missions (up to 16) will no longer be a problem, even here without the need for particular other mods, as long as there are free chairs, 1.11 update give more compatibility with vanilla habs.

DONT USE the "Press Room" module linked to a landing bay, is not ready for this, i'm working on something custom. The "Press Room" module is experimental.
