////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Freshly updated!

After rewriting the scripts from the ground up, hopefully this re-upload will work more reliably!

This mod is also included in my larger overhaul mod "Jupiter Balance", do not use both together!

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Disguise mod does exactly what it sounds like (to a degree) Wearing certain armors will "disguise" you as a member of a faction.

==MAIN FEATURES==

Disguise yourself!

  • Faction members will treat you as if you are one of them when disguised. This means you can waltz right into that factory full of ecliptic or crimson fleet no problem.

  • Only the spacesuit is considered in activating the disguise logic. While a helmet is not necessary to be disguised, it does factor in your ability to decieve your enemies!

  • If you attack a member of the faction that your are disguised as you risk the chance of blowing your cover! However, pirate crews and gangs of mercenaries don't always like each other and sometimes allow violence to play out amongst them. (Remember what happens when you first get to the key between those two pirates?). This means that sometimes when you initiate combat, others will only watch and your cover will stay active!

  • At any point if your disguise is blown and you exit combat (whether that means you killed everyone, or ran away) your disguise reapplies! The only extra thing to note is that in the case where you ran away, enemies will remmber you even if you try and infiltrate again after your disguise is reapplied. This means that you either need to eliminate all witnesses, or go to a different side of the base you are infiltrating where enemies havent seen you yet.

  • Enemies will become suspicious of you if you linger around them for too long. You will see a message on the screen that says "you are being watched...". This means an enemy is checking you out and can potentially see through your disguise.

  • Having the Deception skill raises your chances of staying in disguise in all cases, whether enemies are suspicious of you or initiating combat with one of them.

  • Wearing a helmet also boosts your chances of fooling them

  • Best case scenario: You are wearing armor, helmet, and have the Deception skill.

  • Worst case scenario: You are only wearing armor and do not have the Deception skill

  • Currently, disguises are only supported for Crimson Fleet, Ecliptic, and Varuun Factions

==GAMEPLAY OPPORTUNITIES==

  • Got a bounty for a nasty pirate leader somewhere? Disguise yourself as one of his crew, walk right in and blast him and get out before anyone notices. Or fight your way out from the inside.

  • Roaming a planet and suddenly some ecliptic mercs or pirates land nearby? throw on your disguise and evade them, or maybe board their ship and loot them without them being any the wiser. (needs testing)

==NOTES==

  • IMPORTANT: The way bethesda decided to split up groups into factions is a little weird, and hyper specific at times.Though at times it still makes good gameplay, for example: At the beginning of the game, the pirates in Kreet lab have their own special faction that isn't crimson fleet generic. They don't give a F**k about your disguise. Oddly though, the ship that lands when fighting the boss is full of pirates that DO respect the disguise. This led to a funny moment where I killed the pirates on the roof, the ship landed and backup came, but then they just thought i was one of them and was looking around like what? Honestly pretty cool.

  • IMPORTANT: The script will check if you are already considered in a faction (that's joinable) and essentially disable the disguise function for that faction. We don't want you to accidentally leave a faction if you are doing their questline do we?

  • Right now i have not extended functionality to House varuun specifically in shattered space. I will make a shattered space inclusive version down the line.

==COMPATABILITY==

  • likely not compatible with mods that change the Form ID of any vanilla armors this mod touches. The game will still work, but the disguise functionality for those armors might not work

  • re skins should work still if the mod author just swapped materials on the form and didn't replace the entire form all together.

  • Replacer mods should work in theory, again, if the mod author didn't change the Form IDs of vanilla armors but just swapped models etc. (This case is rare, most mod authors like to leave vanilla records alone and make their own forms, in which case would need patches to work with.)
