DESCRIPTION:
A visual makeover of one of the "Mountains" biomes into a landscape with a vast crevasse field and towering seracs.
The "MountainsNoLife03" biome is not particularly mountainous, but the lowlands feature an unusual and stunning fractured terrain. This mod accentuates the terrain fissures and turns the biome into a vast crevasse field with towering seracs. All the distracting procedurally generated terrain elements like boulders and gas vents have been removed.
The biome can be found on thirteen celestial bodies, as listed below. All the planets or moons are either "Cold", "Frozen", or "Deep Freeze", so it's not immersion-breaking to see snow and ice. The blue ice looks particularly vibrant on planets or moons with a blue, blue-violet, or violet sky, but different sky colours can give the landscape different vibes. The sky colours are shown in brackets.
- Fermi V (Blue-violet)
- Hardpoint (Yellow-green)
- Ternion V-a (Orange)
- Hyla VII-a (Blue)
- McClure III (Blue-violet)
- Zeta-Ophiuchi VI-c (Yellow-green)
- Bel II-a (Violet)
- Voss (Orange)
- Denebola II-a (Yellow)
- Rana VI-b (Blue-violet)
- Alchibal V (Orange)
- Shoza VIII-b (Yellow-green)
- Leviathan VI-b (Red)
Various changes:
Renamed the biome to "Crevasse Field"
- This is just a name change, and there's no gameplay implication.
Retextures of the terrain
- The landscape has been given a blue and white colour scheme to make the fissures stand out.
Weather changes:
- Changed the climate to the vanilla "Frozen Climate" set. Compatible with all weather mods.
Removal of the procedurally-generated terrain elements:
- No more boulders and gas vents! (mostly)
- This will affect how you scan for resources when doing your planetary survey. Fortunately, the resource veins remain unaffected and can be used to complete your survey, and you still can build an outpost and harvest them with a harvester. Rocks and gas vents can still also spawn near POIs, so more reason to visit them. Or use a cheat QOL mod to complete the survey.
INSTALLATION: Download the file via a mod manager. The mod can be installed mid-game. For those of you who are approaching the BA2 limit, you can find the loose file version under the "Miscellaneous Files" section. The Main File is not needed.
COMPATIBILITY AND LOAD ORDER: This mod modifies the following vanilla record and will conflict with other mods that edit the same thing:
- Biome (BIOM) MountainsNoLife03
This mod does NOT edit weather, worldspaces or cells.
Load order:
- This mod should be loaded after mods that edit biomes.
- All weather mods are compatible. Load order doesn't matter.
