!!! WARNING !!! Do not use at the same time with the Digipick Skip Classic Creation! Use this OR Classic! Not both! If you are familiar with the Classic mod, see the "Thought Process behind Digipick Skip Redux" section at the bottom of this Creation's description. !!!WARNING !!!
Feel like Digipicking can be too much of a hassle sometimes? Feel like you just want the option to bypass hacking that container every now and then, after all the thousands of hacking mini-games you've done? Then this mod is for you!
This mod allows you to bypass hacking (or Digi-skip) lower difficulty locked terminals, doors, and containers, skipping the mini-game!
When you gain a skill rank that allows you to attempt hacking a certain difficulty of lock, the difficulty below it becomes available to be Digi-skipped. For example, being able to attempt hacking Advanced locks, allows you to Digi-skip Novice locks.
Depending on the lock difficulty, it will cost a certain amount of digipicks:
- Novice: NONE
- Advanced: 1 Digipick
- Expert: 2 Digipicks
- Master: 3 Digipicks
NOTE: These are available to be changed in the gameplay options menu, if you feel these costs need to be changed. Personally, I like changing them to cost zero once I reach Security Rank 4.
These changes have been made to the Security skill:
- The following changes have been made to the perk ranks:
- Rank 1: You can attempt to hack Advanced locks, 2 auto attempts can be banked, and you can bypass hacking Novice locked doors and containers by performing a "Digi-skip."
- Rank 2: You can attempt to hack Expert locks, 3 auto attempts can be banked, and you can Digi-skip up to Advanced locked doors and containers. Rings now turn blue when the pick can be slotted.
- Rank 3: You can attempt to hack Master-level locks, 4 auto attempts can be banked, and you can Digi-skip up to Expert locked doors and containers.
- Rank 4: Expend a digipick to eliminate keys that aren't required to solve the puzzle. 5 auto attempts can be banked. You can Digi-skip all locked doors and containers.
I did my best to make sure that all default behavior was covered, so you still receive XP, your companions still comment on your lockpicking, and you will be reported for tampering crimes should you so happen to be caught.
Known Issues:
- Activating a locked door with the scanner active will cause you to the mini-game per vanilla behavior
- Terminal sub-menus still require the mini-game
Thought process behind Digipick Skip Redux:
Digipick Skip Redux was designed in mind to better fit into the game's balance, rather than being moreso a cheat like Digipick Skip Classic is. As such, the mini-game is not removed out of gameplay, rather it is preserved as the barrier to unlocking the ability to bypass hacking locks once the player character has manually hacked enough to meet each skill rank challenge.
If the older method of completely skipping the mini-game is prefered, Digipick Skip Classic is still available.
If you are confused what the exact differences are between Redux and Classic, here's the changes without the funny marketing description:
-
Skipping is now an alternate interaction, and challenges are unchanged. Designed to have a minimum amount of times that manual hacking is needed before skipping becomes an option.
-
Digi-skip costs a digipick on Advanced locks. Expert costs 2 digipicks, and Master costs 3. Novice is free. This can be changed.
-
When you increase the Security rank, the rank that allows you to attempt hacking a certain difficulty of lock, also allows you to Digi-skip the difficulty of lock that is below it.
-
(Unlocking the skill rank that lets you hack Advanced locks, also lets you Digi-skip Novice. The skill rank that lets you hack Expert locks, also lets you Digi-skip Advanced, etc.)

1.01Fixed door interactions at the cost of having a dialog box be how digi-skipping is performed. I'm sorry I didn't catch this major issue on first release and took this long to fix!
