Grav Lanes re-routes jumps to the system’s star, letting you walk your ship and interact with crew during the flight. This immersion-first approach is fully optional; simply enable "Instant" in the gameplay settings to bypass the travel time.
Condensed version of the mod and compability:
- Lightweight script (1 script) that runs only on grav jumps
- Update grav jump destination to always be near the center of the star system (near the sun)
- Immersive (10s/30s/1m/5m/10m) or instant jump duration (see gameplay options in the game, order is a bit off for backward compatibility)
- Sleep/Wait to end the jump (still need to go to your pilot seat to go out of the jump)
- Remove all grav drive power to end the jump (2.2+)
- Works with grav jump stats
- Works with Astrodynamics an Payloads skills (Payloads skill support requires 2.4+)
- Compatible with Real Fuel
- Compatible with Seamless Grav Jump (2.2+)
To unlock contraband scans when exiting cruise mode, look for the mod: Cruise Mode Contraband Scans
For a mod with more options and features, look for Astrogate.
Instead of arriving directly at a planet within a star system, you will now arrive near the center of the system, close to the star. From there, you must use fast travel or cruise mode to reach your final destination. This design makes Free Lanes a more meaningful part of the gameplay loop and helps prevent issues that can occur when loading directly into planetary orbit, such as missing faction data or scripted encounters.
The mod works by temporarily preventing the grav jump from completing, allowing full freedom of movement aboard your ship while travel is underway. It is an extremely lightweight mod and consists of a single script.
A new gameplay option lets you configure how long you want to wait before arriving at your destination. You may also wait or sleep to immediately end the ETA countdown and proceed to arrival (you will still need to sit in the pilot seat).
Once the waiting period ends, you must sit down in your pilot seat to complete the grav jump and arrive at your destination. This requirement exists to avoid awkward or unintended situations during arrival.
If you enter combat during the waiting period, you may hear enemy aggro repeating in the background until you stand up.
New Gameplay Options: Warp Time: 30s, 1m, 5m, 10m, Instant and 10s (in that order for backward compatibility). Grav Jump Music: (On/Off) Wait For Pilot (On/Off): Wait to be seated on your pilot seat for the grav jump to end. (v2.3+) Notifications (Enabled/Disabled): Whether to display the mod notifications (v2.3+)
Warning: This mod doesn't make the grav jump seamless, it hijack the native grav jump, plays the grav jump VFS while the timer goes down (unless you use instant option). You will hear other ships and combat might still play while you are on the pilot seat until you get up (before arriving to the destination).
