SMART CONTAINERS + SMART FABRICATORS (4.0)
Smart Fabricators is a free upgrade to Smart Containers 2.0, introducing fully automated crafting into the existing Distribution Center → Smart Container workflow.
Resources are still sorted and pushed to Smart Containers from the Distribution Center. With version 4.0, Smart Fabricators now pull resources directly from Smart Containers (and other FABs) to craft downstream items — no wires, no micromanagement.
Your outpost becomes a complete, self-balancing production system. The version 4.0 Smart Fabricator system can now support multiple DC equipped outposts each manufacturing their own products. Note: Smart Containers cannot sort and store finished products so daisy chain production is not supported. Of course, raw materials shipped in by cargo links can connect to DCs for sorting.

WHY IT MATTERS
You can fine-tune throughput versus liquidity — stockpile for downstream lines or convert excess into credits automatically. It’s the same reliable DC → SC system you know, now extended with FABs that adapt to your strategy.
Outposts finally become something to optimize, not babysit.

IMPORTANT UPGRADE NOTE
Version 4.0 and above requires removing existing DCs and Smart Containers before installing.
Upgrade steps:
Load a save before installing version 4.0
Visit all outposts with Smart Containers or Distribution Centers
Disable auto-sell and remove any stored credits
Delete all DCs and Smart Containers
Save the game
Install version 4.0 and rebuild

While all the features of Smart Containers 2.0 are maintained and enhanced. present builds will have to be rebuilt to take advantage of the integrated system -
