OVERVIEW

This mod expands one of Starfield’s most intriguing storylines, transforming the Mantis from a mysterious side quest into a living mythos that grows as you play. Through new data slates, terminal entries, and rewritten logs, the shadow of the Mantis looms larger than ever before.

And most importantly—every addition is 100% lore-friendly. Nothing here breaks canon; instead, it deepens what’s already there, making the Mantis feel like the true legend the Settled Systems whisper about.

NOTE: This mod is best installed at the beginning of your game, prior to retrieving the Secret Outpost! data slate as it intentionally changes the flow of the Mantis quest, making it a mid game quest instead of an early game quest and the mod adds lore padding to make the Mantis a more interesting character. The mod CAN however be installed mid playthrough, even if you have already completed the Mantis quest.

QUEST PROGRESSION ADJUSTED The audio slate that begins the Mantis quest only spawns once you reach Level 25, ensuring the story feels earned and impactful. New data slates will be added to the factions as you level up, starting from level 1. Make sure you give the factions a regular beat down.

EXPANDED TERMINALS & LOGS 5+ brand-new terminal entries on the Mantis' personal computer. Rewritten Security Logs with a realistic chain of events—rewarding players who notice the small details.

WHAT'S NEW IN v1.1.0?

• Added a new voiced audio slate to the Aegis headquarters in M.A.S.T.
• Increased the rarity of Data Slate drops.
• Adjusted the "Calling All Spacers" data slate to only spawn once the player is level 25 and has read 10 Mantis rumor slates.
• Moved a data slate from spawning on an NPC in the Mantis Lair to a fixed placement in the cell.
• Implemented backwards compatibility: on load, all previously read slates are properly counted toward the Mantis Rumor tally.
• Removed an unintentional edit to a vanilla script.

COMPATABILITY

This mod was designed to be very compatible with other mods, making few modifications to vanilla records.

• All new data slates are injected into the leveled lists via script - this is to keep it compatible with any mod that modifies leveled lists.
• Some modifications were made to quest MS04 (Mantis Quest) and will need a patch to work with any other mods that modify the Mantis quest record.
• Vanilla script QF_MS04_001CD001.pex was slightly modified. This script is unique to the Mantis quest and would potentially need a patch if another mod edits this quest.
• The MS04_IntroSlate has been set to have a 100% ignore chance. This slate remains in the game for compatibility purposes, but should never be spawned.
• Major modifications were made to the MS04_DorianeComputer_Menu and MS04_SecurityComputer_Menu and will not be compatible with other mods affecting these records.
