Faction Backgrounds, Faction Outpost Guards and Faction Ships
Community Rating
This mod allows you to join 5 hidden and normally not joinable factions at the start of a new game by selecting the corresponding background for the faction of choice during character creation.
Not only that, but this mod allows you to purchase faction specific ships in New Atlantis, and also build faction guards to defend your outposts. The guards are all restricted to which faction you’re a member of, from each faction. Note: The guards do not have weapons. This cannot be avoided or fixed no matter how badly you want it to be, due to an update that broke this ability and still hasn’t been fixed.. I tried alternatives and it just doesn’t work. You have to use a mod such as “SKK Followers and Stalkers”, which edits inventory to manually assign them weapons or use console commands if you’re on PC.
List of new backgrounds (starting factions to join): United Colonies Marine The First Mercenary Ecliptic Mercenary Va’ruun Zealot Spacer
UPDATE: Fixed the issue of other class ships not showing up. Class C faction ships appear at Neon starting level 40, Class M ships appear starting level 70 in New Homestead.
For the other normally joinable factions, you will unlock the ability to place down guards from that faction only if you join it normally through the quests. This includes Constellation, Crimson Fleet, UC Vanguard, UC SysDef, Ryujin Industries, and Freestar Rangers. Minor factions or any other faction will likely not be added.
