Mod authors can claim their work on this site and more

Here's a bit of the latest added on the site:

Mod Author Claiming

Those that have made mods available on Bethesda (aka Creations), which we're importing onto the site, can now claim them here. Our first claim was tested by our own kinesthesia, so his work is now featured prominently on his user profile. Other opportunities for mod authors:

  • Receive notifications anytime one of your mods is rated and/or reviewed or added to a collection
  • Have a "My Mods" section added to your user dashboard
  • Your user profile will support new fields specific to mod authors where you can link off to the other sites you have a presence on like Nexus or YouTube
  • You'll have a "Mod Author" badge added to your profile and posts/comments
  • Receive 250 engagement points per mod you've published as a Creation on Bethesda (sorry for those that only use Nexus; I don't have access to that catalog of mods yet)

I'll be adding more features for mod authors over time.

How to Apply

  • You must have a user account on this site
  • There is a Claim Mod Author page in everyone's user dashboard, or you can visit any of your mods' detail pages to see a Claim button next to your Bethesda author username that will take you to the same form.
  • On the claim form, you'll be asked to provide some evidence proving your ownership of that author username in a text field or an uploaded image.
    • I'd recommend taking a screenshot of some page on Bethesda's Creations site showing you logged in as that author username and upload that.
    • Another option we'd appreciate is updating your Creation's (or Nexus mod's) description to include a link back to this site - perhaps asking users to submit their feedback here on this site.
  • Submit your claim form and I will review and approve it as soon as I can.

Giphy Integration + Emojis

All the editors on the site for forum posts or various comments should now include an Insert Gif and Insert Emoji option in the toolbar. The gif insertion is powered by Giphy so you can just search for relevant gifs the way you would on other sites. Emojis is just a fixed collection of ones available to use - especially for PC users who need easier access to them. 🚀

Forum Updates

  • Adding imagery for each forum board to help make them more distinct
  • Updated Active Topics panel to sort by topics with the most recent activity (including their replies)
  • Total posts for each board include post and total replies. Most forums I recall would call the first post a topic/thread and all replies a post then combine the total for the board's count. I'm just trying to do the same now.

I'm still not terribly happy with the forum layout when on the main forum lander, so I may make more changes there. Let me know if you have any suggestions in this area.

Encouraging more User Engagement

I updated the site to expose user-only actions as being visible to guests (like rating, favoriting, adding a collection, etc). If a guest clicks on them, they're prompted to create a free account. My hope is that this encourages more guests to signup and use the site. We have over 100 verified users thus far, but most have not participated yet with using the site.

Bug Fixes and Other Updates

  • Found some bugs on collections with favoriting mods and fixed that
  • Added the option on collections to add a mod to another collection
  • Updated collections to always default to article view but still has the option to switch to a table without reloading the whole page
