Requesting feedback on this companion game idea

I had the idea today to create a companion game around the star map and surveying locations to capture the best photos.

Some general thoughts:

  • goal is to fill in photos eventually for just about every location on the star map
  • photos tagged to a location let site users vote for their favorites (on a per location basis)
  • gamify the process so that users can compete for top surveyors; get points for uploading photos tagged to a location and then bonus points for other users liking/loving/rating them
  • support highlighting "dark" zones on the star map like a fog-of-war effect - areas that lack photos - so you get more points when filling in new areas
  • support weekly/monthly quests/contracts like "survey 3 coastal biomes"

The ultimate goal is just to have fun in Starfield while producing some interesting content for the community.

I know some groups on social platforms do this already, but those photos eventually get lost in the social feeds. And those folks are free to contribute the same photos here if they like.

Let me know if anyone likes the idea or has suggestions for it. I'll be refining it into a clearer plan moving forward.

That's pretty cool and sounds like a lot of fun. I have tons of photos (an embarrassing amount actually). It'd be a blast!

Thats a great idea and great way to drive interest and accomplish the goals in one swoop. I'm in! Now I guess I will have to start writing down the planet and moon names when I take pics, I'm so bad at that lol.
